Ballay will jail VICTIMS of abuse
For those who don't know: In Louisiana, a District Attorney has the authority to imprison victims of rape and domestic abuse. You read that right. Victims.
If a victim chooses not to testify in court against their rapist or abuser, the D.A. can--and in the case of our current D.A., has--stripped that victim of their freedom and locked them up in prison.
We have a District Attorney who not only believes this practice is okay, but one who has used it against Plaquemines Parish residents, and one who has traveled to Baton Rouge to try and defeat a bill that sought to outlaw it.
